Whether you can give an hour per day or per month, we need your help!

To show our appreciation, volunteers who donate 50 or more hours will receive an OAHS T-shirt! If you are interested in volunteering, please stop by or contact the shelter.

Volunteer Application

Daily shelter tasks include

• Cleaning dishes, kennels, and cages
• Doing Laundry
• Walking Dogs
• Socializing Animals
• Grooming Animals
• Dog Training: help the dogs learn the best manners possible to increase their chances at adoption!

Public Events

Join us in raising funds and promoting the shelter at various public events! You can help by serving food during events, helping with raffles, or handing out informational brochures that promote our adoptable animals! The more people are aware of us, the more animals we are able to place in their forever homes! Events include brat frys, dog washes, bowling tournaments, golf outings, dinners, parades, and helping out at established local fundraising events such as Copperfest and 'A Nite at the Bistro'.

Maintenance

Keeping our building and grounds in top shape not only makes us more appealing to the public, it also ensures that the animals, staff and volunteers are comfortable and safe. If you are handy and would like to donate some time and effort, we are always looking for talented, hard-working individuals to complete any of the following:

• Seasonal Cleaning
• Painting
• Mowing and trimming
• Planting, watering, and/or weeding Flower Beds
• Maintaining kennels and fencing (securing hardware, repairs)
